Games magazine Edge has had an editorial shake-up and brought back Tony Mott to edit the title for a second time.
Mott, who was editor two years ago, replaces Joaodiniz Sanches, who is going freelance.
Also joining the title is Sam Richards, former editor of PS Next and Official PlayStation 2 Magazine, who becomes associate editor, succeeding David McCarthy, who has also left to freelance. Staff writer Margaret Robertson has been promoted to games editor. Edge is now seeking a writer to take over from Robertson.
Mott said: “Edge has always stood out in the video game magazine market and that’s not going to change.
Throughout 2004 and beyond we’ll be making it even more distinctive.
“The team has a huge amount of experience and talent and we’ll be pushing really hard to create some groundbreaking issues. New gaming hardware from Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo is just around the corner, so this is an exciting time, and Edge is going to reflect that.”
Mott has spent five years working in games magazines, having recently launched GameCentral, a games page on Channel 4’s Teletext service.
Edge is hoping to increase its circulation – currently 27,315 – next year, following a cash injection from its owner, Future Publishing. The investment includes plans to increase distribution and expand the title further overseas.
