Eastern Eye editor to join Evening Standard

By Press Gazette

Amar Singh, editor of Eastern Eye, is moving to the Evening Standard as a reporter.

The 27-year-old has been editor of the Asian community newspaper for the past three years.

Singh
said: “The Evening Standard is a newspaper I’ve read every day for a
long time. I’m a proud Londoner and appreciate the multicultural nature
of the city.

The Evening Standard will do well to embrace that changing multiculturalism and I feel I can contribute to that.”

Wayne
Bower, managing director of the Ethnic Media Group, said: “Over the
past three years, Eastern Eye has developed more than at any other time.

Amar’s
decision to leave is a disappointment but we understand and respect his
decision, and are pleased he is pursuing his goals. Amar has created a
strong team and we look forward to the appointment of a new editor to
continue the good work.”

The position of editor is currently being advertised.
