Mirror.co.uk this week launched a new downloads section for its website featuring music from signed and unsigned bands, audio books and humorous emails (or virals).
Parent company Trinity Mirror has linked up with existing download sites Tunetribe.com (music), Audible (books) and Bore Me (virals) to launch the service.
The partnership with Tunetribe.com means the site will feature a branded area with a full mp3 download service, album reviews and music features.
There will also be an "unsigned" section for bands and artists to sell and promote their own music.
The section provided by Audible will initially focus on comedy and celebrityrelated content — which includes an exclusive second series of Ricky Gervais's podcast show which broke records when it was made available on The Guardian.
Mirror.co.uk editor Steve Purcell said: "This really is an exciting step forward for the website and for our army of users. This development shows our ongoing commitment to our online audience by creating a fun, informative and interactive website."
Neil Kleiner, digital content manager for Mirror Group Newspapers, added: "This is just the beginning — we will continue to forge innovative partnerships with strong and proven content providers."
