Deal agreed on size-based mag pricing: Crozier

By Press Gazette

AdamCrozier: in a two-way street

Royal Mail chief executive Adam Crozier has announced an agreement with the magazine industry on size based pricing.

The two-year dispute on basing postal costs on size rather than weight had led to claims that some magazines would be forced out of business.

The Post Office wanted to charge magazines as a packet rather than a large letter if they were 2mmover the standard 10mm thickness, which would have meant a massive increase in postage costs for publishers.

Now Crozier, speaking at the PPA’s CEO Conference, said there would be a 5mm leeway, originally suggested by the PPA.

Crozier said it was important there was a “two-way street” between the two sides with the publishing industry needing to consider Royal Mail’s changing infrastructure.
