Cyril Williams, who has died aged 91, twice worked for his home town weekly, the Kidderminster Shuttle.
He
began as a junior reporter after leaving King Charles I School,
Kidderminster, but moved after war service in the RAF to the Birmingham
Evening Mail. After 30 years as a subeditor, he retired in 1976 and
became a part-time sub on the Shuttle.
A keen sportsman, he was
secretary for 34 years of the Kidderminster and District Cricket
League. He was also a past chairman of the Birmingham and Midland
Counties district of the Institute of Journalists.
A widower with no family, his funeral was held at Kidderminster Parish Church.
