Hachette has revealed further details of its new real-life crime
fortnightly, Crime Confidential, which hit newsstands on Tuesday.
The publisher claims the title, which will be racked beside
magazines like Take a Break and Chat, will create a “unique and
innovative new sub-sector”, exploiting the public’s love of TV shows
like CSI and Crimewatch as well as the typical Chat reader’s thirst for
lurid “true life” tales.
It also contains a key element of
anticrime advice, featuring a section on how to burglar-proof different
types of home in issue one.
A spokeswoman said: “The UK is a
nation fascinated with whodunits and conspiracy theories and has a keen
interest in the investigative process of solving crime.
“The
magazine will help to empower its readers against criminals and give
them the chance to help other people and protect themselves and their
families in the process.”
The magazine was launched at 70p, but will rise to £1.40.
Sarah Vickery, Hachette Filipacchi UK’s business development director, added: “Unfortunately crime is a part of all our lives.
“Crime
Confidential will give its readers the stories behind the headlines
that they won’t get anywhere else, and help them to protect themselves,
their families and their homes – giving power back to the people and
taking it away from the criminal.”
