Old and new: the County Times before, left, and after its redesign
Welsh weekly the Powys County Times and Express has been redesigned and given a new masthead.
It is the biggest change at the 18,000-selling paper since it went tabloid in 1999. The redesign was handled by the Hastings-based Editorial Centre.
Editor-in-chief of North Wales Newspapers, Graham Breeze, said: “It was very much a broadsheet in tabloid clothing following the switch five years ago. Now the County Times is much cleaner and easier to read.
It has better signposting, clearer sections and a new design which is pleasing on the eye.”
Editor Martin Wright said: “For the past couple of years we have really worked on improving the content – we wanted to improve the presentation so it could match the content.”
The revamp has been backed by a radio advertising campaign carrying the slogan “Proud To Be Local”.
