Mann: will also oversee Middle East and Africa
Corbis has appointed Maria Mann as its new director to oversee Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
She has joined the photography organisation from her own agency, Creative Eye Consulting.
“Corbis photographers are producing some stunning work in accord with a very intelligent news strategy and the company is doing well as a result,” said Mann. “There is a lot of positive energy and passion in the Corbis environment, and I’m excited to be part of it.”
Mann is a former director of photography at the Toronto Sun and spent 19 years with Agence France-Press, setting up the international picture desk as well as photography operations in North and South America.
In her new position at Corbis, she will oversee international strategy for news, sports, entertainment, historical, fine art, and editorial stock for the EMEA region and manage archive products, first sales, and representation. She will be based in the company’s Paris office.
Brian Storm, Corbis’s vice-president of news and editorial photography said: “She is widely respected as a thought leader in the profession and has a unique talent for getting the best out of the people she works with.”
