CNN celebrates 25 years

By Press Gazette

CNN is planning a range of initiatives to mark its 25th anniversary
year, starting with the launch of CNN Connects – a live discussion
programme, recorded in front of an international audience.

CNN
Connects will be broadcast on 28 January at the World Economic Forum in
Davos, Switzerland with ‘Freedom to Choose’, a one-hour discussion on
the emergence of democracy in the Middle East, hosted by Jim Clancy.

“We
will be initiating debates and discussions throughout our 25th
anniversary year on subjects that have a resonance with our worldwide
audience,” said Rena Golden, senior vice president of CNN International.

The
first edition of CNN Connects: Freedom to Choose will bring together
some influential names from across the Middle East, including Shimon
Peres, vice-Prime Minister of Israel and chairman of the Labour Party;
Amre Moussa, secretarygeneral, League of Arab States, and Ahmed M. Al
Sheikh, editor- in-chief, Al Jazeera Satellite Channel, Qatar.

Further events will be announced throughout 2005.
