Chris Lillington has been made editor of the Daventry Express.
He has been deputy editor on the paper since late 2005 and previously worked on the South London Guardian and the Leamington Spa Courier.
Lillington said: "I came in as deputy editor hoping to get this position. It's a good paper, a good team and so far it's going very well.
"The Express is a strong paper and we've got ideas to improve its design and add new comment.
"I feel quite proud and privileged to get the job. The paper has a unique place within the town."
