The weekly Southport Champion is disputing The Daily Telegraph’s claim to be the first newspaper to offer free music downloads (Press Gazette, 17 December).
It commissioned musician Glenn Rogers to create the “Southport Christmas Song” which was put on the Champion’s website at www.championline.net and could be downloaded free from 3 November.
The Daily Telegraph offered a 10track compilation to download on 16 December.
