Five News has secured Ms Dynamite, Dame Kelly Holmes, Howard Marks
and Alastair Campbell to edit its halfhour news programme at 7pm.
The
four editors will take control of the bulletins presented by Kirsty
Young over four consecutive weeks from Friday, 11 November.
As
well as ordering the stories of the day, they are commissioning their
own reports on a wide range of subjects.Ms Dynamite will start the
series, with Dame Kelly taking the helm on 19 November, Marks on 25
November and Campbell on 2 December.
Young said: “The four have
different areas of specialist knowledge and use diverse disciplines in
their respective fields of music, sport, culture and politics.
It
will be fascinating to see how their backgrounds influence their
editorial judgement, opinions on theday’s top news stories and choice
of reports.”
Five News editor Mark Calvert said: “This is a first
for television news in this country. All of our guest editors are used
to being in the news, and have on many occasions been the focus of
intense media interest. But this will challenge them, and challenge
their view of what makes news.”
