Channel 4 News has recruited Tom Clarke from Nature magazine to be its new science correspondent.
His appointment follows the resignation in July of science editor Andrew Veitch.
Clarke is no stranger to television, having reported on science, health and technology stories for US broadcasters.
He worked for various independent television companies in New York and produced a weekly one-hour news and feature segment for National Public Radio.
Clarke, who takes up his post on 1 December, has also worked as a consultant on television documentaries.
