Brule unveils Monocle staff

Tyler Brûlé has drawn staff from London, New York and Tokyo for the February launch of his new magazine Monocle.

The title will launch in February, combining print, web and broadcast coverage of global affairs, business, culture and design. It is published in London and has editorial bureaux in New York, Zurich and Tokyo.

Andrew Tuck (pictured), executive features editor of The Independent on Sunday, joins Monacle as editor. Tuck has been deputy editor of The Sunday Review. He was editor of Saturday's The Independent Magazine and returned to the Sunday paper to relaunch the Review section. He was also previously features editor at Time Out London.

Dan Hill, former head of interactive design and technology at BBC Radio & Music Interactive, will be director of web and broadcast. He is credited with implementing the BBC Radio Player "listen again" application and introducing podcasting to the BBC.

Monacle's creative director will be Richard Spencer Powell, a former Wallpaper* art director who helped launch other Brûlé projects like Spruce magazine and Wink. Ann Marie Gardner will be editor-Americas and has been an editor of T Travel and the New York Times' travel magazine. Fashion market editor will be Tokyo-based Takeharu Sato, who has worked as fashion editor for the men's fashion magazines Smart and Smart Maxover the past five years.

Robyn Holt, most recently managing director of Conde Nast's Russian operations, will be managing director. New publisher Pamela Mullinger has worked with Brûlé before as head of fashion advertising on Wallpaper* and as business development director of Winkreative. Oliver Ellis, international sales executive for The Economist Group, will be advertising director.
