The Sunderland Echo has appointed Tim Booler as senior reporter.
Booler was self-employed up until 1997 when he opted for a career change and enrolled on a journalism degree in Middlesborough.
His first reporting job was at the Peterborough Evening Telegraph where he became health reporter. This led to a position at GP magazine Pulse.
Booler soon found that magazines were not for him as newspapers allowed him to get out of the office more, so after five months he moved to the Grantham Journal where he was senior reporter.
He then decided to pack up and head north when the vacancy arose at the Echo.
Booler said: “I am still trying to get used to the language up here in Sunderland but I am really enjoying it. Journalism was always something I wanted to get into but never had the opportunity until recently.”
