By Press Gazette

Former Bluebells bass player Lawrence Donegan is to join the Guardian as golf correspondent.
Donegan began his journalism career at the Northern Echo in 1990
before becoming a reporter on the Scotsman in 1991. He joined the
Guardian in 1994 as a reporter and was promoted to Scotland
Correspondent in 1997.
Donegan left the Guardian in 1998 to write a number of books
including Four Iron in the Soul and California Dreaming: A
smooth-running, low mileage, best priced American adventure.
Before becoming a journalist Donegan played bass with Scottish pop
group the Bluebells and later joined Lloyd Cole and the Commotions.
He takes over from David Davies, who retired
last December after 21 years at the paper.
