Birmingham Mail revives battle against bullies

By Press Gazette

The Birmingham Mail has launched its second anti-bullying campaign in two years.

"Speak Out, Stop Bullying" focuses on encouraging children, parents and schools to access information on the paper's website which carries a survey, readers' forum and a competition to design an anti-bullying poster. The campaign hopes to promote discussion in schools.

ChildLine has joined forces with the Mail and the paper will help publicise the helpline number. The Mail worked with eight local authorities to focus on their regionwide initiatives and find examples of good practice.

Birmingham Mail editor Steve Dyson said: "We hope that the resources we have put together this year will be of help to schools in tackling the problem."

Last year, the Mail's anti-bullying campaign, which involved education packs for every Midlands school and helpline stickers for every school pupil, won Trinity Mirror's award for Regional Campaign of the Year.
