BBC takes Easton

By Press Gazette

Channel 4 News home and social affairs editor Mark Easton has been poached by the BBC to be its home editor. He fills the vacancy left by Niall Dickson, who left to head the health charity the King’s Fund at the end of last year.

Easton will begin on 19 April.

A former BBC Newsnight and Here and Now reporter, Easton joined ITN in 1996 as Five News’s launch political editor. He also produced current affairs programmes for Five, moving to Channel 4 News in January 1999.

His journalism career started on the Southern Evening Echo in 1979, after which he moved to LBC as senior producer on the David Loyn programme.

That year Easton won a Sony Radio Award for his work on a documentary about Armley Prison in Leeds.
