The Controller of BBC Northern Ireland has announced she is to retire from the corporation after 36 years at the BBC.
Anna Carragher has held the position of controller for the past six years and the BBC said that the recruitment process for her successor will start immediately.
Carragher said: "I feel both privileged and proud to have had a long and varied career with the BBC and I am particularly proud to have been head of programmes, head of broadcasting and controller, BBC Northern Ireland at a time of great change both in the industry and in Northern Ireland."
Carragher joined the BBC as a studio manager in London in 1970 after graduating from Queen's University, Belfast. She became a producer on Radio 4's Today programme in 1975, worked as the BBC's Radio News producer in New York in 1977, then moved to television in 1982 to join the launch team of Breakfast Time
