BBC names new controller Northern Ireland

By Press Gazette

Peter Johnston is to be the new controller, Northern Ireland, the BBC announced today. He succeeds Anna Carragher, who retires on 17 November 2006 after six years in the job, and will formally take-up his new position on that date.

Johnston, 40, is currently head of broadcasting for BBC Northern Ireland, a post he has held for the past three years, with overall responsibility for the commissioning and scheduling of programmes and content for Northern Ireland audiences on BBC TV, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Foyle and BBC Online.
