Freedom of Information campaigners have condemned the House of Commons Commission after it launched a High Court battle on Tuesday to keep details of MPs’ £23,000 additional cost allowance spending secret.
The Information Tribunal last month ruled that MPs must reveal their Additional Costs Allowance, used to pay for second homes, after journalists successfully argued for disclosure in court.
