Staff on Arena magazine have put together a special issue to celebrate its 18th birthday, writes Ruth Addicott.
The September magazine – its 150th issue – includes a 52-page supplement featuring Arena’s 150 favourite women throughout its history. It includes icons from Kate Moss and Charlize Theron to Charlotte Church.
Arena’s executive editor, Richard Galpin, edited the portfolio with Arena’s editor-in-chief Anthony Noguera. Arena was launched in 1986 by the founder of The Face, Nick Logan, and was sold to Emap as part of the Wagadon portfolio in 1999.
Its launch was followed by the successful spin-off Arena Homme Plus.
Arena is also famous for launching the careers of a number of leading fashion photographers such as Nick Knight and Jurgen Teller, stylists Karl Templer and art directors Neville Brody and Phil Bicker.
The 252-page bumper September issue also includes an exclusive autumn/winter fashion preview.
