Architectural title to blend web and print

By Press Gazette

New Building Design editor Amanda Baillieu has pledged to integrate the print and online elements of the B2B title in a bid to maintain its market leadership.

Baillieu, who was appointed editor of the CMPi weekly this week, said: "Broadly, it’s a question of integrating print and online and how you deal with news. Clearly it’s no longer just about the scoop or the big front page. News is breaking all the time on the net so the magazine needs to be about analysis, the stories behind the stories and great campaigns. That’s what all B2B titles should be about if they’re any good."

Baillieu (pictured) moves from BD’s sister title RIBA Journal, the monthly magazine of the Royal Institute of British Architects, which she has edited since 1999. Previously a reporter and news editor on BD for six years, she has also worked on the Architects’ Journal, was a commissioned architectural columnist at The Independent and BSME editor of the year in 2003. Baillieu replaces Rob Booth, who is leaving to freelance on the national press. There has been no announcement yet on the new editor of RIBA Journal.
