Archant raising money for charity

By Press Gazette

Lisa Powell, left, from the Eastern Daily Press took part in a pirate-themed pantomime to raise some “pieces of eight” for charity.

It was just one of the ways newspaper staff at Archant have raised £13,200 for charity in the ?rst six months of this year under a scheme in which the company has matched the money raised pound-for-pound.

Archant publishes four daily papers and 50 weekly titles and staff across the country have undertaken all manner of challenges to raise money for causes close to their hearts.

A 55-strong team from the company’s Norfolk titles took part in the Cancer Research UK Race for Life event in Norwich at the beginning of June.

And at the Ilford Record, reporter Anita Patterson and telesales rep Chris Hampton teamed up to organise a quiz night at the Ilford Snooker Club for colleagues.

East Anglian Daily Times Woodbridge chief reporter Richard Smith and Nichola Newbery of the recruitment team at Archant Hertfordshire ran the London Marathon, as did reporter Richard Parr, from the Dereham & Fakenham Times, who raised £1,500.
