Archant Life buys Dorset magazine

By Press Gazette

Archant Life has acquired Dorset magazine from Dorset-based Poundbury Publishing, writes Sarah Lagan.

All five staff, along with their editor Bridget Swann, will transfer to Archant with the title. Dorset will be managed by Archant’s south-west division under group publisher Anita Newcombe, who is also responsible for titles in Cornwall and Somerset.

Poundbury Publishing’s Peter Shaw, who launched the title in 1994, said: “We are a small publisher and I believe that we had taken Dorset as far as we could. In Archant’s hands, Dorset will move on even further.”

Archant Life, which now publishes 23 regional magazines, began focusing on county titles in 1998. Managing director Johnny Hustler said Dorset’s local content would be increased. He added: “We have got a high level of expertise and we know how to make great county magazines.

“The editorial has to be recognisable throughout all of our titles. It stops and starts with very highquality editorial content.”
