Another editor at Bizarre

By Press Gazette

Bizarre magazine has appointed Ben Raworth as its full-time editor, writes Ruth Addicott.

Raworth takes over from Andy Capper, making him Bizarre’s third editor in nine months.

His previous role as executive editor saw him working on a part-time basis for just a few days a week. “I’m enjoying it and decided to go full-time,” he said.

“There will be no celebrity covers, just more crime, notoriety, perversions and big strong images. If ever there was a magazine able to push the edges of what is acceptable, it should be us.”

Raworth has been with I Feel Good, Bizarre’s publisher, since the outset and also worked on the launch of Jack. Prior to IFG, he was at FHM and worked on special projects for News International when it was looking at launching a men’s magazine.

Raworth said he was hoping to “cram more in” to Bizarre and broaden its coverage beyond the US and Britain. “The reason I like Bizarre is that there is hardly any PR in it because there isn’t really anything anyone wants to sell through Bizarre. I think there is a level of boredom young men have reached with men’s magazines. Finding original content is easy if you are not being driven by a PR machine.”
