Aberdeen’s Press and Journal puts Energy supplement online

By Press Gazette

The Press & Journal in Aberdeen has launched a standalone website for its monthly supplement Energy.

Energy is heralded by the paper as the "voice of energy in Scotland" and www.energy.gb.com will not only carry the supplement's content, but also a daily selection of energyrelated stories from the Press & Journal as well as an extensive archive.

Energy's editor, Jeremy Cresswell, said the launch was a direct result of the supplement's popularity among British readers, especially from the North Sea oil and gas industry and a growing international audience.

He said: "Our email traffic tells us that we're even read in Africa, China, Russia, South America, China and New Zealand.

"Indeed, we are often told that we are the best source in the UK and have a growing reputation for the quality of our international coverage too.

"This is reinforced by the P&J's unrivalled reputation for UK daily newspaper coverage of the energy scene… especially the North Sea which has been reported on intensively for 40 years."

The Eastern Daily Press and Liverpool Daily Post both have standalone websites which could point the way forward for the regional press.
