Staff at the Dewsbury Reporter group are celebrating the best circulation performances for eight years.
Sales of the Dewsbury and Mirfield Reporters are up by 8.25 per cent for the July-December 2002 period, according to the latest ABC figures. Its sister paper, the Batley News, recorded a 6.56 per cent rise.
The Spenborough Guardian, which completes the stable of titles circulating in the North Kirklees area of West Yorkshire, showed a 2.75 per cent increase.
John Wilson, editor-in-chief of the Johnston Press-owned titles, said: “The transformation to tabloid 18 months ago has proved the catalyst for a great success story. This is a triumph for good community journalism and a brilliant team effort between editorial and newspaper sales.”
The Dewsbury titles became part of the Wakefield-based Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group at the end of last year.
