Aaronovitch to leave Guardian for The Times

By Press Gazette

Guardian columnist David Aaronovitch is joining The Times.
The former Independent columnist has been with
the Guardian since January 2003 and plans to start at the Times in
June.
He will help fill the void created by former Times editor Simon Jenkins
who leaves the paper after 15 years in the summer to join the Guardian
as a commentator.
Times editor Robert Thomson said: “David is one
of the great writers and journalists of our generation. He has an
instinctive feel for modern culture and for traditional values, both of
which are important to The Times. We are delighted to have him join the
contest of ideas on our pages.”
Aaronovitch said: “I am delighted and nervous to
be joining The Times, and to be one of a stable that includes such
gorgeous animals as Matthew Parris, Anatole Kaletsky and Patience
Wheatcroft.”
