£10,000 salary hike for Irish Times’s Kennedy

By Press Gazette

Irish Times editor Geraldine Kennedy, one of six executive directors
at the company, was paid €323,000 (£224,000) in 2004, writes Des Cryan
in Dublin.

She and managing director Maeve Donovan earned the
same salary, up €15,000 (£10,000) on the previous year. Deputy editor
Paul O’Neill was paid €145,000 (£100,000) and managing editor Eoin
McVey €123,000 (£85,000). The six also shared €397,000 (£275,000) in
bonuses.

Annual accounts show that staff will receive a profit share payment equivalent to four per cent of annual salary.

The group wants to cut costs by €4.5m (£3m) and a voluntary redundancy package is being introduced.
