Alastair Campbell to write column for The Times

By Press Gazette

Former government spin doctor Alastair Campbell has rejoined the journalistic pack to write a column for The Times.

Before becoming Tony Blair’s head of communications Campbell was political editor for the Daily Mirror and also for now-defunct daily title Today.

Times editor Robert Thomson said: “Alastair is as passionate about sport as he is about politics.

He has strong opinions and a way with words, as his diary snippets have revealed, and his thoughts about sports people and their strengths and failings, will be as revealing about our society as they are of rugby, tennis, football or athletics.”

Campbell wrote in The Times on Monday about his recent run in Ethiopia in aid of Leukaemia Research. His column will start in the new year.
