Agence France Press sell financial news wing

Agence France-Presse have sold financial news
agency AFX News Ltd to Thomson Financial, a division of financial
software company Thomson Corporation.


London-based AFX provides equity-focused business, financial and
economic news to the investment community across Europe. The
transaction is expected to close in July 2006 subject to regulatory
review in Germany.


AFX News Ltd provides financial news to the international banking and
investor community including corporate financiers, analysts and
economists, private bankers, financial advisors and retail investors.


The 16-year-old agency has 107 employees spread across its head office
in London and 12 news bureaux around Europe. It uses content generated
by over 5,000 journalists around the world.
