The Independent’s Whitehall editor Oliver Wright has been named as the replacement for Andy Grice, who is leaving the title as political editor after 17 years.
Meanwhile, Independent on Sunday political editor Jane Merrick has also announced her departure.
Merrick is set to step down in October but will, along with Grice, continue to contribute to The Independent titles.
No replacement for Merrick has been named and her job is being advertised for.
