Men’s magazine ABCs, second half of 2014: Zoo halts decline and Loaded publishes new sales figure

By William Turvill

The majority of men's magazines audited by ABC saw their combined print and digital circulations decrease in the second half of 2014.

Free weeklies Shortlist (down 6.4 per cent to 500,449) and Sport (301,502, down 0.9 per cent) are the biggest circulation titles. Monthlies Men's Health (200,156, down 6.2 per cent) and GQ (125,090, down 1.5 per cent) led the way on paid-for sales.

Haymarket's Forever Sports, which launched last March and recorded a circulation of 62,277 in the first half of 2014, recorded a circulation of 90,093 and moved above FHM to become the third most popular paid-for men's title.

In print, free magazine Square Mile and Zoo were the only titles to increase their circulations year on year, by 19.7 per cent to 57,533 and 3.2 per cent to 30,464 respectively.

Loaded returned to ABC auditing after an absence from the official sales figures with a total circulation of 30,510 (only 24.8 per cent of which was paid-for).
