Metro was the fastest growing UK newspaper website against last month, more than doubling its reach year on year to some 1,547,550 daily browsers according to ABC.
The website of the free daily newspaper is now produced by the Mail Online editorial team and is completely separate from the print edition.
Mail Online was by far the most popular UK newspaper website in July with just over 11m daily browsers worldwide. But is behind the record 11.8m average daily browsers it acheived in January of this year.
The Telegraph is continuing to achieve strong year on year growth despite being behind a metered paywall which limits free access to 20 articles per month.
