The Sun’s Whitehall editor yesterday pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.
She appeared alongside Marta Bukarewicz, the partner of a HMRC press officer, who also pleaded not guilty.
Hartley was charged in May with paying £17,475 over a period of three years for the unauthorised disclosure of information which included details about government plans and spending decisions. She as originally arrested in May 2012 as part of the Met Police’s Operation Elveden inquiry.
