Police today made their 60th arrest in the Operation Elveden probe into allegations of corrupt payments to police and public officials.
A 50-year-old Met Officer with the Met's territorial policing command was arrested at 6am at his home in the Wimbledon on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
He is being interviewed at a south London police station and a search of his property is being conducted, according to a statement issued by the Met this morning.
The Met said: "Today's arrest is the result of information provided to police by News Corporation's Management and Standards Committee.
“It relates to suspected payments to a police officer and is not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately.”
