Water, water, everywhere …

By Grey Cardigan greyblog

Under the heading ‘A feather in their cappuccinos’ the Guardian’s Media Monkey devotes 200 words to The Sun’s splendid Starbucks exclusive, which outed one of the world’s biggest ‘sustainable’ brands for wasting 23 million litres of water a day by leaving taps running in its shops.

Elsewhere on the site, Professor Greenslade called the story (actually phoned in by a reader) a “genuine investigative scoop that must surely win it an award”, while the actual newspaper followed up the story at considerable length

And today’s big Guardian promotion, trumpeted at the top of the front page (and directing readers to a revenue-friendly full page ad on the back)? You’ve guessed it – ‘A Starbucks coffee for every reader.’ Brilliant!

EDIT: All is explained. As announced elsewhere on this site, The Guardian has now ousted The Times as the sole newspaper on offer in Starbucks’ 690 coffee shops.
