Former News of the World investigations editor Mazher Mahmood has begun putting his talents to good use at the Sunday Times.
An undercover investigation published at the weekend (with video online) – has resulted in five men being arrested and released on police bail.
According to the Sunday Times, individuals at an accident claims firm advised undercover reporters how to submit false insurance claims for car damage and personal injuries worth at least £6,000. They also provided a “victim” who paid a fee for his car to be involved in the crash and who submitted car insurance and multiple personal injury claims.
According to the Sunday Times, “Crash for cash” crimes add £44 to every car insurance premium in the UK.
