Dennis online-only magazine launches – a website

By Martin Stabe wirepost

Dennis Publishing’s digital men’s weekly Monkey is to is to launch a website next week.

Monkeymag.co.uk will feature more video content and greater interactivity – including comments, story ratings and votes on the content of upcoming issues.

The new site will be using a video player from Kewego.

Monkey, a digital-only magazine that uses the page-turning effect from Ceros Media, launched in November 2006.

Its most recent ABCe audit showed that the standalone digital magazine had 942,18 unique users in January, an average of 271,667 unique users for each weekly issue.

Dennis has also launched a fortnightly digital-only technology magazine, Gizmo.

Update: Paul Bradshaw of the Online Journalism blog is puzzled about the move. “What’s weird about this is that Monkey already is a website,” he writes.

“So why shunt your readers off to another website ‘just for them”? Who’s the online magazine for?”
