Natasha Kaplinsky questions her salary

By Rachael

Five’s new recruit, former BBC presenter Natasha Kaplinsky, has questioned whether she is worth the “ridiculous” amount of money she is paid as a news reader.

Kaplinsky, who is to present Five News with Natasha Kaplinsky from Monday 18 February, revealed her thoughts in an interview with the Radio Times.

She refused to reveal her salary, but admitted the move was for “an astonishing amount of money”.

Asked whether she is worth the inflated salary, Kaplinsky said: “Well, that’s a really difficult question. Five seem to think I am but, no, how can anybody justify that? A dustman is worth £1million for cleaning up the rubbish, as far as I’m concerned, and a doctor is worth £20million for saving someone’s life. It’s just impossible to answer that question.”
