Court gagging orders should not be a ‘matter of routine’

Too many magistrates and judges impose gagging orders without consulting the press, High Court judge Lord Justice Thomas has said.

His comments came as the Daily Mail succeeded in overturning a gagging order preventing it from naming Lincoln Crawford, a barrister whose conviction for harassing his ex-wife and her new partner was kept secret.
