Arbroath Herald moves from historic home

By Patrick

After 70 years in the former Brothock Mill, the Arbroath Herald and its sister title the Guide and Gazette are moving to new premises at 21 Market Place, Arbroath.

The Johnston Press-owned title has published a comprensive history of the paper on its website, which effectively is a history of how local newspapers have evolved over the last century: the Herald began as a  family-owned enterprise before being bought by Johnston for £1.9m in 1999.

In 2004 editor Craig Nesbit was the paper’s first editor to put news – instead of advertising – on the front page.

It seems the paper’s reporters even uncovered a story while sorting out old boxes for the move.
