Advertising up 70% at Sainsbury’s Magazine

The latest edition of Sainsbury’s Magazine has seen a 70 per cent increase in advertising after publishing the biggest edition in its 18-year history.

The paid-for supermarket monthly is the third major consumer magazine to announce a record haul of advertising in recent months.

In September, Grazia published a 300-page issues during London Fashion Week – which it said was its biggest ever. Also in September, top-selling men’s magazine Men’s Health claimed to have published its most successful issue ever for advertising.

Sainsbury’s Magazine Christmas special runs to 276 pages, 88 more than its average pagination. This includes 119 pages of advertising, up from an average 70 pages.

Sainsbury’s Magazine costs £1.60, and according to ABC it saw a 12.6 per cent drop in year-on-year circulation in the first six months of 2011 to 255,072.
