
A new free weekly newspaper is being launched in Aberdeen this week.
The first edition of CityLife, a 32-page full-colour tabloid, will have an initial print run of 10,000 and hits the streets on Thursday.
The paper is being launched by NER Media and will be run by a six-strong team including executive editor Paigham Mustafa and advertising and circulation director Keith Clark.
The paper will be ‘lifestyle orientated’and focus on the entertainment and cultural life of Aberdeen, with a 60/40 editorial-to-advertising. The company has also signed a distribution deal with the transport company First Group.
Mustafa said: ‘All our research indicates that there is a definitive niche market in Europe’s oil capital for a free lifestyle weekly newspaper majoring on entertainment and culture.
‘We have had an excellent initial response from advertisers.”
CityLife will be competing for readers with DC Thomson-owned dailies the Press and Journal and the Aberdeen Evening Express, and free weekly the Aberdeen Citizen.
