Fighting for quality news media in the digital age.

Thebusinessdesk.com names new editor

By Press Gazette

The deputy editor of Thebusinessdesk.com in Yorkshire, Ian Briggs, has been promoted to editor of the regional business website.

He replaces former editor and now managing partner David Parkin, while assistant editor James Reed moves up to deputy editor.

Briggs started his career as a news reporter on the Bradford Telegraph & Argus and joined Thebusinessdesk.com from the Yorkshire Post when it was first launched.

In a statement Parkin said: ‘Ian is not just our longest serving member of the team but a great journalist who has gained the respect of people inside and outside our business.

‘This is a deserved promotion for him for all his hard work and talent. James Reed also steps up to deputy editor which reflects the impact he has made since he joined us last year.

‘A young, growing business like ours needs quality people, and in Ian and James we have two of the best business journalists I know and, importantly two people who it is great to work with.”

Since it was set up in Yorkshire in November 2007 the company has opened offices in Manchester and Birmingham.

Thebusinessdesk was launched by Parkin – the former business editor of the Yorkshire Post – backed by a group of professional investors in November 2007.
