The Tommy and Gail Sheridan perjury trial led to ten weeks of fascinating courtroom drama as the former Scottish Socialist Party leader led his own defence.
Just before Christmas it finally concluded with Gail being cleared and Tommy being convicted of perjury. Some estimates put the cost of the trial at £5m and he looks certain to face a jail term when sentenced.
The pair were charged with lying under oath during the 2006 defamation action against the News of the World over claims Tommy had visited sex clubs. Sheridan won a £200,000 libel payout but the News of the World always maintained that would not be the end of the matter, and how right they were.
