Maureen Rice joins Cedar Communications

Former Psychologies editor Maureen Rice is to join Cedar Communications, initially taking over as editor of Tesco magazine.

Rice, who left Psycologies last July, will take on the role at Cedar’s flagship customer magazine while editor Dawn Alford is on maternity leave.

Rice said: “It’s a pleasure and privilege to work on a magazine that connects with so many women.”

According to the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Tesco magazine had an average distribution of 2,055,391 in the second half of last year.

The magazine, which is published every two months, is the fourth biggest title in the UK.

Mark Jones, editorial director of Cedar, said: “Under Maureen’s editorship, Psychologies was one of the magazine industry’s surprise success stories.

“Not that those of us who have worked with Maureen were surprised she is simply one of the most intelligent editors around who really understands how to identify with the readers needs.”

Rice left Psychologies, a Hachette Filipacchi publication, after four years as editor and was succeeded by Louise Chunn.
