By Oliver Luft

Rebekah Brooks, former editor of The Sun turned chief executive of News International, has joined the board of PA Group, owners of the Press Association.

Brooks will take up the position on the PA Group board of directors previously held by James Murdoch, chairman and chief executive of News Corporation in Europe and Asia.

PA Group is a private company with 27 shareholders, most of whom are national and regional publishers, including News International, Trinity Mirror, United Business Media and Daily Mail & General Trust.

Clive Marshall, chief executive of PA Group said: “We are fortunate to have someone with Rebekah’s industry experience joining our board.

“The Press Association is a business founded on editorial content and Rebekah’s understanding of the news media and her extensive contacts throughout the industry will be of enormous value as we continue to establish ourselves in the evolving digital landscape and diversify into commercial markets.”

Brooks is expected to attend her first board meeting this week.
