Stephen Pollard appointed editor of Jewish Chronicle

By Dominic Ponsford

Author and journalist Stephen Pollard has been appointed as the new editor of the Jewish Chronicle.

The weekly newspaper for Britain’s Jewish community has a weekly sale of more than 30,000 and was previously edited by David Rowan – who left the title to edit the UK edition of Conde Nast technology magazine Wired.

Pollard, 43, is a frequent contributor to various national newspapers and has a regular blog for the Spectator.

He is also chair of the European Institute for the Study of Contemporary Antisemitism.

He is best known for his biography of former Home Secretary David Blunkett – in which Blunkett made a number of indiscreet remarks about his New Labour colleagues.

Pollard is also infamous for hiding an offensive message to Richard Desmond in the first letter of each sentence of a leader article on his last day at the Daily Express.
